About

Garrin Costa, Jr.

I'm Garrin — drummer, audio engineer, music producer, and software developer in progress. I've spent nearly 30 years immersed in music and sound, and I'm now building a second craft that shares the same foundation: curiosity, problem-solving, and a deep interest in how things actually work.

The Work

I've played and produced across a wide range of styles — rock, hip hop, jazz, metal, folk, ambient, deep dubstep, and everything in between. That range isn't accidental. I've always been drawn to understanding systems from the inside, whether that's a drum groove, a mix, or a codebase.

Software pulled me in for the same reason music did. Not because it's trendy or lucrative — but because it's a craft with real depth, and because I saw a gap. Too much software creates friction instead of removing it. Too many tools kill flow instead of supporting it. I want to build things that actually solve problems — for creative people, for businesses, for anyone grinding against tools that should be working for them.

The Rest

I'm drawn to philosophy, psychology, and mythology — Jung in particular. I've come to think the search for definitive answers matters less than the quality of attention you bring to the search itself. There's more beauty in the question than most people allow themselves to notice.

I also love beach volleyball, the outdoors, and physical challenge. I have two cats — sisters — that I don't currently live with. I miss them dearly.
